History & it's significance to solve contemporary social Issues.
■ Relevance of the past to the present :
the study of India's past assumes special Significance in the context of the problems we face in modern times. Today we see, some people clamour for restoration of Ancient Culture and Civilization. And, a good no. Of people are sentimentally swayed by what consider to be past glories of India. (I am not against pride of our glories but jingoistic pride). "This is different from concerne for the preservation of our Ancient heritage in art and Architecture". I really don't know whether they want to bring back the glory that we had or the social evils of the past that always left us divided, because of those devils British ruled on and we ourselves became slaves of our land." Yes, I am talking about divided society due to' verna', which gradually took the form of cast system that put us on eternal division...
If these people really want bring back that society and culture, a situation demands a far better understanding of the past.
There is no doubt that ancient Indians made remarkable progress in various fields of life, but these advances can't enable us to compete with the achievements of modern science and technology..
We can't ignore that ancient society was marked by social-economic-political "Injustices"/Burden of past.
The lower order particularly like shudras and then untouchables were crumbled due to disabilities, which are "shocking to modern MINDS". The revival of ancient society and culture will lead us to these inequalities. The success of our ancestors in surmounting difficulties presented by natural and human factors can build our hope and confidence in present and future. But attempts to bring back our past mean perpetual inequalities and discriminations. ""And all this makes it necessary to know what the past means."".
We have many survivals of the ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary times. The old values , religious practices, customs are so deeply ingrained in the mind of people that they can't easily get 'rid' of them. "Unfortunately these survivals inhibit the development of individual and country". They were deliberately fostered in the colonial situation. Indian can not develop rapidly until we remove such burdens of past.
